USED
VEGETABLE OILS
How
is it re-cycled?
Although
these oils are food grade materials we do not recycle it for food use
again. It is either processed to use as substitute for mineral diesel
fuel - this is known as bio-diesel, or to replace fuel oil for space
heating. This reduces contamination of waterways by disposal as general
waste, reduces the use of fossil fuels, &, as the oil is from crops
which can be grown in the U. K., reduces import costs. For further information
see www.bio-power-high-peak.co.uk
or www.carbon-offset-high-peak.co.uk
What
can be re-cycled?
Vegetable
oils used in the catering trade for deep frying & other applications
have to be regularly replaced as they become contaminated. Generally
the used oil is returned to the container in which it was supplied.
It should be runny & uncontaminated. Avoid storing it outside where
water can enter the oil.
What
causes problems with re-cycling used vegetable oils?
Contamination
with animal fats & other foods which cause the oil to solidify make
its use as road fuel very difficult. We are looking at ways of using
these oils for heating fuel. Water can enter through holes in the top
of cans & can make them overflow & also contaminate the oils
How
can I re-cycle my used vegetable oils?
Either
bring it to our premises, or Bio-power High Peak Limited can collect
it from you - please contact them for details. Because of the nature
of this material please contact us in advance if delivering it.
