TWENTY
SEVENTH HIGH PEAK RUN
SUNDAY
5th JUNE 2005
We hope that you will be able to join us at this year's Run.
An Entry
Form is available on this website.
This year the start
& finish are at the
PAVILION
GARDENS IN BUXTON.
Hot coffee will
be on sale from 9.30 to warm you up on arrival.
The route is about 50 miles through the Dane Valley & Macclesfield
Forest with views
across the Cheshire Plain to Jodrell Bank
The Run will start at 10.00 with vehicles leaving at half minute
intervals.
You are advised to start the Run with plenty of petrol as
it is possible that no garage
will be open on the route. Garages in Buxton will be open.
On returning to the Bull
i'th Thorn a cold buffet lunch will be available at £8.25/Adult,
£4.00/Child,
to include a sweet & coffee or tea. Bar snacks will also
be available but it would be more
convenient for the Licensee if people ordered a lunch in advance.
You will see that the Entry Form
includes a space for booking lunch. For those who want to bring
their own sandwiches the Licencee
will put aside a room for your use.
Children are welcome. Coffee & alcoholic drinks will be
available. The prize giving
will take place at 15.00 & we hope that entrants will be
able to stay until then.
There will be 6 classes - defined as
follows:-
Class 1 - Motor Cycles manufactured up
to 31/12/1945.
Class 2- Motor Cycles manufactured after
1945 & at least 25 years old;
younger machines of exceptional interest
will be accepted at the Committee's discretion.
Class 3 - Motor Cars & Light Commercials
manufactured up to 31/12/1930
Class 4 - Motor Cars & Light Commercials
manufactured from 1/1/1931 to
31/12/1939 with engines below 1501cc
Class 5 - Motor Cars & Light Commercials
manufactured from 1/1/1931 to
31/12/1939 with engines of 1501cc &
above.
Class 6 - Other vehicles of note at the
discretion of the committee. These will
be vehicles in a thoroughbred tradition
of obvious excellence. If your vehicle was
manufactured after 1959 please contact
us to check its eligibility unless this car
has been accepted for a previous High
Peak Run.
Have a look at the List
of Entries to see what sort of entries are normally eligable
Prizes will be awarded in each class
for:
A. Concours
B. Roadcraft (observation on Route)
There may also be a prize "per ardua".
Rosettes will be affixed to the vehicles
winning awards. The Derbyshire Life Trophy
will be awared to the competitor who
accumulates the most marks in Roadcraft
(irrespective of class).
If there is a tie the marks in the Concours
will decide.
The trophy presented in memory of the
late Humphrey Williams & Don Nall is
awarded annually to a member of the High
Peak Historic Vehicle Club who enters
the Run in a vehicle maintained mechanically
by themselves.
Bob & Judith Haywood donated the
"Bull i'th Thorn Salver" which is awarded annually
to the member of the High Peak Historic
Vehicle Club who receives the
highest number of marks in Roadcraft.
The closing date for entries is 22nd May or the date on which
the number of eligible
entries for any one class reaches 50, whichever is the earlier.
We therefore advise
you to send in your entry form as soon as possible. We will
despatch to you the
Final Instructions & Entry List by second class post on
24th May.
We plan to regularly update the entry list on-line.
The Entry Fee is £10. We will accept changes of eligible
vehicles up to 22nd May.
After that date changes will be accepted only to another vehicle
within the same class.
If you are unable to to enter the Run
this year but would like to be involved, we would
very much appreciate your help in with
the marshalling, either the Roadcraft observation
or at the Start & Finish at the Bull
i'th Thorn. If you can help in this way please contact us.
The Run is organised by the High Peak
Historic Vehicle Club which meets on the third
Wednesday of every month at about 20.30
at the Bull i'th Thorn. The Club caters for
everyone interested in old vehicles &
warmly welcomes new members. The subscription
is £3.00 for an individual or £5.00
for family membership. Payment should be made to
the Membership Secretaries, Geoff &
Sue Eaton, - 01298 78922
We hope that entrants who live locally
will join the Club & support its activities.
If you are a member of an historic car
or bike club perhaps you would publicise the
High Peak Run to your fellow club members.
The committee hope that you will be able
to enter the Run & look forward to seeing
you on the 6th June.
